I understand that the Vice President is a customer and a fan of high speed rail and that he wants to offer its delights to as many Americans as possible.
Additionally, I offer you the following four more reasons in favor of this plan:
1. High speed rail is
an open market.
2.
High speed rail has much potential. High speed rail would economically viable on its own if they didn't share tracks with freight trains.
3. Our deficit is enormous, and it's only getting bigger.
However, HSR contribute greatly to the economy and will be an investment in our future that will pay off.
4. I'm an airline pilot
and care about the future of our children. Investing my tax money in a service that functions that will do away with environmentally wasteful routes flown between JFK, LGA, DCA, PHL etc. that would clearly be more efficient on HSR as jets are not very efficient at all on such short hops. Also, the Vice President wants me to pay to
enhance my business by helping to reduce airport and airspace gridlock in the Northeast.
I urge you to encourage the Vice President on this
proudly forward thinking initiative. Please, favor throwing good money at good projects.
Favor federal funding for high speed rail!
There, fixed it for ya.
That's the letter (or something like it) that I am sending.
