On the other hand, it makes me wonder why a guy like this gets off the gravy train. One scenario: he's going to go sit out his non-compete and reappear as someone else's CEO. If I want to get even more conspirational, I'd expect him to reappear as CEO of an airline we would be likely to merge with, and about 5 months thereafter where he would announce his intention to retire at the helm, "unforeseen circumstances" would force his hand to reluctantly accept a merger offer from DAL.
Ok you are a glass half empty like me on this guy, but you are definitely thinking outside the box. I think your version of potential reality is more creative and likely than mine.
