Yes, the escape clauses exist, but they may or may not be offering them. If they have trouble recruiting quality people for certain jobs, they may offer an escape clause to entice someone who might be reluctant to end up in a non-flying job.

With the economy down I would guess they probably have more than enough volunteers.
