I had a disabled passenger deplane at the "horseshoe" in JFK recently - after the gate agent claimed the lift was broken.
They made her slide down the stairs
on her butt and helped her into a wheelchair when she got to the bottom.
My whole crew was dismayed at the humiliation we/Delta dished out. The Captain sent a strongly worded report up through Comair channels, so I'm sure this will be fixed immediately.
