Man, where do you start with a thread like this? Pretty sad. I've been with XX major for 25 years. S80 captain for 13 years and a couple of years ago went back to 777 fo. Too much bullcrap to put up with as a captain so I'm just being lazy now. I can't speak for the other airlines, but this one runs you into the dirt. Everytime I think things are about to get better they kick you in the gut. They take all your money and give it to themselves and laugh in your face. I have had it better than most, yet I feel this way. My 22 year old daughter was the valedictorian of her hs senior class and had her pvt pilot license. She told me she wanted to be an airline pilot. I said no freaking way. I'm too old to turn back now. Some of you have too much money in this to feel like you can quit. If you are furloughed, think real hard about coming back. If you have an MBA or an engineering degree. Forget this crap. Spend every night with your family. Be home for the holidays. Live a normal life. I've been hearing about this pilot shortage for more years than I have been working. Just another kick in the gut.
God bless everyone of you who are in this profession. If you absolutely love it, hang in there. But if you can get out. Do it and do it now. Good luck!
