I didn't say become an engineer and be home every night. I said if you are an engineer leave the airline business. I know it is bad for many professions. However, if you are an engineer, you can go sideways to another company if you are not happy with your employer. If you are a 25 year airline pilot, you are married to your company. I'm with one of the "better" companies and this business sucks. If you want to enjoy the glory of flying for the airlines prepare for:

1)Spending 100 nights a year in run down hotels.
2)Missing holidays, birthdays, and countless special events with your children and spouse.
3)Flying with worn out mad as hell cabin crewmembers.
4)Constantly listening to management tell you how you have to give up more so they can have more. "You don't understand executive compensation".
5)Working for 1993 pay rates forever.

You get the picture.
