I feel for them. Career change for a pilot is not easy. Our skills do not transfer to other industries or professions. In addition employers look at us as highly paid playboys who do not know how to do real work ( I can't say as I blame them though

).
The first and most difficult part is divorcing yourself from the dream that is aviation. Self delusion is more attractive than the reality of becoming an accountant or engineer. People can get stuck in a self destructive loop of going from start up to start up and furlough to furlough in hopes that the next round will be their payday.
I have a wife and children and can not afford to hope anymore that this industry will have a place for me. Others are in the same situation but can not see the writing on the wall.
