If I may chime in, Colgan isn't the "Colgan" of the early-to-late-2000's. We recently signed a great contract with ALPA and will soon be merged with Mesaba and Pinnacle. If you have issues with flying turbo-props, that's your problem. However, after your year "seat lock" you will have the opportunity to bid jet equipment on the Pinnacle side of our operation. I can assure you, that if you come here, you will appreciate the skills that you learn and hone from flying turbo-props.
A few years ago, I left the 121 world for a short stint flying 135. I really appreciated the skills that I acquired by flying stinky/old/slow turbo-props. It really taught me to think things through (due to the older technology) and really THINK!
The pilots (and most flight attendants) at Colgan Air are some of the best folks I have ever worked with during my career thus far. They are very safe, knowledgeable, and FUN to be with on a 4 day trip! You won't be disappointed, I promise.
Personally, I can say that I have been where you are, on the outside looking in. All I can say is, that if you are hired here that you will have fun and learn a lot. If you feel the need to use a sub par company (in your opinion) to get current, and then leave and go somewhere that you believe to be "better," then so be it. Do what works for you, and don't let anyone tell you any different.
Good Luck,
