To those reading this post, I hope you aren't seeing us as being "picky" or unappreciative of the possible opportunity to get "hired" on the CAL side. I've been chasing UAL around the country for 10 years from newhire to furloughed to recalled to furloughed. If I lived near IAH or EWR maybe it would be more appealing. The biggest problem is if you go to the CAL side you will be seat frozen to a non-UAL hub (ORD/DEN/etc). Not looking forward to being on reserve, again, much less commuting to reserve for 2+ years.
If I was hired at CAL and left once recalled to UAL and that is somehow seen as selfish or sticking it to the company, I and I'm sure everybody else really wouldn't care.
Bottom line, this is mgmt's problem. Ideally THEY have the power to recall on both sides at the same time (its called balancing the flying instead of take it out in the hides of the 1437). Dealing with the inefficiencies of any other approach, with a new JCBA or not is inconsequential.
