Not taking a side in Wis. because it doesnt matter, but I just had a question about the article.

If the taxpayers pay nothing toward teacher pensions in Wis because the teachers fund it completely themselves thru delayed compensation, then why not have the teachers fully fund their own paychecks thru the same delayed compensation.

That would solve Wis' budget right there.

That article is called $hit for the troops. Please think.

Nosmo,

This guys logic is totally faulty. He says their benefits are all self funded because they all accepted reduced compensation over the years and now are just getting their rightful due. This is a total crock.

First of all its a total hypothetical - who knows what their pay-rates would have been in past years with different compensation package.

And most importantly for what he says to be true the WI POLs would have had to have reduced the WI spending over the years by the hypothetical amount of their imagined deferred compensation.

For example - If the budget was going to be 100 million dollars and 10 million were saved due to union types accepting less pay for better benefits down the road, then if, and only if, the POLS only spent 90 million that year would what hes says even have a chance of being true.

If the POLS still spent 100 million then he is AFU. Not to say this is the union folks fault - it is not, but that doesn't change the fact that the majority of the middle class is WI is being soaked to pay for the unrealistic compensation of the state union members.
