Just came out today.

RE: Pilot Hiring Update
Over the past few months, we have been filling Pilot New Hire classes from a hiring pool created in 2008. To date, the Flight Training Center has begun six classes and has two more scheduled in March. These Pilots were added to cover the increased vacation time and increased aircraft utilization. You’ve no doubt noticed a steady increase in line density. With that trend likely to continue, there will be a need for additional Pilots going into the summer months.
With that said, we are preparing to resume Pilot interviews.
We anticipate hiring an additional 100 Pilots with interviews beginning in April! However; it’s important to note that the application process has changed from years past.
Candidates who meet our minimum qualification requirements (see below for details) should visit Southwest Airlines Careers to apply. After applying on southwest.com, qualified applicants will be sent a link to a secure third party website, and asked to fill out a candidate profile that details their career and flying history. We will invite candidates to interview based on competitive experience. Consideration will be given to total time, PIC time, aircraft flown, type ratings held, currency, overall aviation experience, career progression, positions held and education. The B737 type rating will be required for employment, but will not be required to interview.
The application window will open on March 9 and close on March 23 at 5:00 PM Central time. Once the window is open we encourage you to tell your friends and colleagues who meet our qualifications and are interested in a career at Southwest Airlines to apply. Please note that we are allowing ample time for Pilot candidates to apply so there is no need to rush. Further, all qualified applicants will be considered so there is also no need to be first.
Process:
Candidates apply through southwest.com/careers, answer prescreening questions, and upload a simple résumé. We recommend that the résumé be created in a Microsoft Word document and then attached at the end of the application process through southwest.com/careers.
Candidates who meet minimum qualifications for employment will be e-mailed a link to create a detailed profile.
The application window will be open for two weeks ending March 23.
Candidates will be selected for interview based on competitive experience.
In-person interviews will be held in April and May.
The minimum requirements for consideration:
USA DOT/FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP).
2,500 hours total flight time or 1,500 hours total flight time in a turbine aircraft.
A minimum of 1,000 hours in a turbine aircraft as the Pilot in Command. Only time in a fixed wing aircraft is counted toward this minimum; this specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV, EWO, and UAV.
Actively flying for two of the last five years preferred.
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Four year degree from an accredited school desired.
B737 type rating is not necessary for interview, but will be required for employment.
Once selected to interview, candidates must provide a minimum of three letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the Pilot’s flying skills and character by having observed him/her over a sustained period of time. Those letters may be hand carried to the interview or submitted via the online Pilot referral tab on
SWALife.
