There should be a large finical repercussion for the company extending a line holder. Right now it is cheaper for the company to extend us rather than put the trip in open time and give out green slips and assignments. Not to mention how this affects the pilots life. I had a rotation extension a few months ago in which I was not notified until 2300 while in flight that I would not be returning home. This was too late for me to make arrangements and changes to my home schedule. The result was a loss of $375.
That's messed up. You're right, this definitely needs to be fixed. Thanks for your insight.
