A320 fuel burn question
At work the other day we had an A320 gate turn back for mx reasons. After mx finished with the aircraft, the crew called to have more fuel added, and I was told by the jetway driver that about 2,500lbs was burned during the taxi out and back to the gate. To me that sounds like an awful lot of fuel burn for about 20 minutes worth of idle/low thrust power settings.
Obviously there could be any number of other reasons for wanting more fuel, but the story was told as if it was solely because of fuel burned during the taxi out/back. Flight time was to be about 1h45m and with good wx at the destination.
I was just curious if that sounds accurate or if its complete bologna.
