Too bad Boeing didn't think of putting these guys names on the new 8 series,it would have been a nice gesture on their part.
Fred or Ally (don't know which one of you wrote that)
As a side story, when the 747-8 was being unveiled a couple of weeks ago, the VP of Commercial Airplanes; Jim Albaugh mentioned that Joe Sutter (the Father of the 747) was offered a job at both Boeing and Douglas Aircraft. Joe took the job at Boeing because they had a wind tunnel (or something to that effect).
Albaugh went on to say that of Sutter had taken the job at Douglas instead of Boeing, we would be having this roll out (of the 747-8) in Long Beach (....instead of Everett).
Joe Sutter will always be credited.
