The jets are great but they don't make much sense when you want to go recruit somebody from a town 100 miles away from an airport with the balanced field length you need. That being said, you really can't go wrong with a couple citations. 550s are pretty cheap on the used market, have good range, and simple systems.
I agree with Pilotpip on citations. A few years ago for school I did an abbreviated Biz plan on a 135 charter op. I was leaning towards the hawker 700 but, I actually called a charter broker to ask them about it. I think I called a place named Bell Aviation (could be wrong with the name) and they reccommened the citation II because of low operating cost (1,100Hr) a good range, and easy flying with the straight wing design versus sweptwing.
