This IS the current practice.
Last year I had a "mini-RLG" on my line. I was sick for those days.
My DSA had BOTH TRIPS AND THE ENTIRE "mini-RLG" removed. (I had been assigned a few trips on the "mini-RLG" days). I contacted the company and pointed to the error that was made. FDX credited my DSA for the trips. The "mini-RLG" was the sick time removed from my DSA.
As for arguing whether this is a give-back, different issue.
Codification of current practice, yes.
