Is it safe to say that the majority of people, if given one choice of what to protect during a SLI, it would be SEAT? I know a lot of guys know they are going to be jr for a while when they upgrade. Their just happy to upgrade and to be done with poverty.

I don't think the two list idea merged into one is that bad of an idea.

I know there are probably at lot of FOs at my company saying "yeah but I go from having 50 guys ahead of me on the upgrade list to maybe 300. But on the new list 300 guys out of a 3000 pilot list is only 10% movement. Upgrading 30-40 month would be less than 8 months. 300 spots to move on a 600 pilot list is "forever" but on a 3000 pilot list its not that bad.
9E has some 7-8 yr FO's, as well as some 20 year FO's. You CANNOT simply staple lists together by seat. Guys choose to stay in the right seat for QOL or other reasons, everyone doesn't always want that left seat that you so drool over. Some guys lost their first class medical and can only hold a second class (FO for life at that point), for others in a senior base they don't upgrade for QOL. Nobody can "force" their hand and priorities in life. Heck, we have some CA's that just voluntarily downgraded last bid because of the QOL. A divorce over a commute to the left seat can be far more expensive and disturbing that $20K/yr more and the PIC column. On top of all that you are now "punishing" an FO, tell me what happens if things slide "backwards".... A 6 year CA get's downgraded to FO and is now AHEAD of a 20 year guy that stayed as an FO? NOT HAPPENING

Your idea won't work. Let the committee(s) do their work, we can't change the outcome anyway.
