N6724m Amen! You beat me to it. This whole "y'all are made for it, I'm not" crap is just that; BS. Secretly sexist men use that as an excuse to not have to dig in and DEAL with crying children, difficult situations and frustrating family dynamics. Hey, I am clearly a big fan of men and the only major feminist ideal I hold to be 100% true is that women are equally good at many (note that I didn't say ALL) things men are. That said, I do believe that men in general tend to turn to cop outs such as those of C750, which at first glance come across as soooo big of them; to admit their "flaws" or biological "shortcomings". It is much harder and take a great deal more courage to fight against those biological "challenges" and overcome them than it does to admit them while shrugging your shoulders in acceptance. Women did it fifty years ago. Men can do it too.
Hey, it drives me nuts to hear my child screaming nonstop as well. The difference is that I don't give up. I CAN'T give up and that is the difference between you and I, C750. Considering what my husband does, I often don't have someone around to turn my child over to that can help quiet him or her down. If I want some peace and quiet I
have to find a way to accomplish that - as would you if your arms were the only ones around to quiet the little ones. It is amazing what one can do when left with few choices.
Or wait ... maybe women should use the same excuse and say that we are not "instinctually" equipped to assist the family financially, to pay or manage bills or to helplessly cry whenever we need to dig into a historically "male task"? I'd like to see the state of the world if women gave up as easily as SOME of our male counterparts. ;-)
