If ALPA had put out a notice that by flying RJ's, I was hurting the collective bargaining process at majors, I would've for sure turned the job down. I did in fact turn down a job flying the CRJ-700 for GoJets when they flipped my TSA class into a GoJets class for that very reason. Accepting a job with GoJets would've hurt the life of pilots. In fact, I eventually did get furloughed at TSA, because there weren't enough people like me willing to turn down a jet job, because it was the right thing to do for everyone. I wasn't just looking out for me, if I had been, I would've taken the job, along with the awesome seniority that would've came with it. However not once, since entering this industry, have I seen ALPA/teamsters or any other union try and organize the pilots to turn down all RJ jobs for the purpose of raising scope. If they did that, I would certainly not be flying the jet I'm in. But since that isn't going on, it would be stupid of me to turn down the QOL/pay/experience I am currently getting.
