We have a Sperry HSI (steam gauge) and are currently having that problem (having to fly in heading mode) with the KLN900 GPS. The avionics shop said that we don't have the role steering component installed in the plane and that would fix the problem, then Sperry autopilot will then slave to the GPS approach. Does that mean anything to you?
Again I've heard that the Garmin equipment doesn't fully integrate with the Collins EFIS-85 but I haven't heard anything about that problem associated with the Sperry equipment????
