Airbus also wants to try to slip some A350s in there too as a part of the deal, maybe taking away some of those newer A330s. No 321s unless they put more powerful engines on them. That's what he said, and he also stated he loved the bus, and planned to stay on it forever.
Interesting rumor.
I could see this happening if Delta has serious questions about Boeing and the 797's direction and Airbus is offering the sun and the moon to win ma' Delta.
I think the preference for an American company would be to go with an American manufacturer but that's kind of like thinking the Cadillac you're buying is a Cadillac and not a Chevy built outside the U.S. from parts from way beyond North America and it sucks but you're assured to pay Cadillac prices with the attitude to boot so why not finally commit to the Ford product?
Besides, the "we had Airbuses after the Pan Am merger and they sucked so bad that you'll never see them again here at Delta!" manager crowd is not only significantly outnumbered but probably dwindling very quickly given that was over 20 years ago. Not to mention, according to the Pan Am folks the jet was fine til old school Delta got a hold of it.
