I RARELY ever need to type anything of any length, or do any work in Office-type software. I have a home desktop PC that would be my primary either way, and, like has previously been mentioned, hotel business centers and FBOs almost always have a public-use PC available should the need arise. I am leaning heavily towards the ipad, but just wanted to rekindle the discussion here to get more opinions.
Thanks for the bump.
I too am entering the 21st century soon and I'm buying a friends used iPad with ForeFlight. I've flown with a couple of guys that use it and swear by it for the reasons you mentioned above. There was a good thread recently about flight planning iPhone/iPad apps. that might be worth searching for you.
