Not sure where you are hearing 8 weeks. It is actually about 6 weeks. I started 15 Feb and have checkride today. Pace starts out very relaxed with lots of company indoc type stuff, there is a week of systems review, three days of automation, one on performance, a couple days on safety. The last week you have reviews and prep for the sims, CRM and a couple other things. You end up with about 4 weeks of classes then just under 2 weeks of sims.

Overall pace picks up as you get closer to the sims and sims are very busy yet fun. Lots to learn (especially for military folks like me) but they prep you well.

Now depending on how big your class is, some people have a few days off between classes and sims, but not more than 6 days max. So even at that, you aren't here for more than 7 weeks, unless you get Dallas for IOE, but that is another story.
