The director of training came in to our systems class and assured us that legally we are entitled to an E-175 PIC type rating since it's in the CBA. If we decide to leave Compass before becoming captains, and we give them enough notice, they will schedule a PIC type rating course before you leave. He also said they are trying to resolve it now so that new hires will again be given the type, and for those of us who are not being typed now, we will be typed in our 1-year Maneuver Validation ride if the issue has been resolved. The problem is that the training used to all be accomplished in the left seat (since it's a PIC type), and the POI didn't like that we were training in the left seat for a right seat position.
As far as housing, the best options are crashpads, which are mostly full (so get on the wait lists now), and the Country Inn & Suites in Eagan. They have a crew discount of $45 / night + tax. Split that with one of your classmates and it works out to $125 / week. I took the CIS option, and so far it's working great. It's a pretty nice place, very quiet, McDonald's next door, and a full breakfast buffet every morning.
That gas station down the street has a nice food selection as well, really.
