BTW, did you bother to read the info on those log books, their construction and materials? I don't know about you, but something as important as my logbook (the written summary of my career) is worth it if I get the quality.
Jepp books, while they do the job aren't made to last a lifetime (unless you keep them put away and don't record leg by leg entries), more over the use a fake leather cover, and the binding on both of mine has come loose.
These books are made the way books used to be made... the same books you see at antiques book stores that are 100's of years old..
if that's not worth an extra $30 bucks for you (the price of a dinner at Red Lobster), then maybe you just don't care about quality and your idea of fine products is Walmart, which is fine.. it's not mine.
Some people just don't appreciate true quality. Those are probably the same people that buy a $40 pair of tennis shoes every few months instead of buying a $180 pair of boots that will last at least a couple years. I think those are very nice and well worth the price. I looked last year for a log book and ended up with the standard Jep professional pilot log book. Personally I'm very disappointed with it. Like you said the binding is already separating, and what ****es me off the most is all the useless columns in it. Yeah they may be great for a student or instructor, but totally useless to a professional pilot. I do kinda like the green pages, but I think I can adjust. I'll also be looking for that review!
