You don't get a hotel or per diem. MEM is your domicile (unless you go to Hong Kong). Training pay is it. Is training pay ridiculous? Absolutely! Will you more than make up for it after 1 month on the line? Absolutely! We have new hires in ground school who've already been awarded wide bodies! It's like a Kenyan who stops to tie his shoe at the beginning of the Boston Marathon. Ya think he might make up a little ground in the first couple of blocks of the race? Or you could go to SWA and pay for your own training. A 5 year FedEx 727 Engineer makes as much as an 8yr 767 FO at United! The list goes on.
