Turns out there are about 1100 pilots senior to me who are currently not at Delta or bidding, who could come back conceivable and bump me downwards! That includes like 170 furloughed, 250 mil leave, and a ton of sick guys. I figure that the furloughed guys who haven't come back have found other jobs and won't. But the military leave guys are probably all getting close to a retirement or bumping the Col-BG wall and they could come back, in fact it seems likely to me they would. Now the NBC SIC list... no idea what that's all about, or how many of them might ever get back to the line.

Anyways, it just seems that having 1100 potential dudes out there who could show up and bump you downwards, after 10 years, is an awful lot. I'd think most of the furlough guys will drop off the list over the next year as they exceed 10 years out.

RK;

I dont know if it is true or not, but back in the days of age 60 retirements, I was told that 17% of the pilots did not make it to age 60, they left earlier - for any/all possible reasons. Again, I have never attempted to independantly verify this, but even though it sounds high, that was the percentage being thrown around. In my class of about 25 pilots, 4 are already gone and the average age of my class today would be around 45-50.
