Yes each negotiating team has their pilot's best interests at heart, but arguing for absurd solutions is counterproductive. It shows a lack of unity, understanding and highlights the greed. I can scream and yell all day for a million dollars, but the absurdity of the claim deserves no rebuttal.
And I think it's absurd that colgan pilots want relative. Why should a 2 year colgan pilot be above a 6 year pinnacle pilot. Everything is relative. I am glad this went to the arbitrator. Hopefully the arbitrator sees that mesabas and colgans growth have been at the expense of the pinnacle pilots. In the end we can't be mad at each other. The arbitrator can use all, little, or none of the negotiators recommendations. It's his final decision that matters.
