Sure the Colgan MEC put out a good read, but was it really a good idea?
I completely expected Mesaba to support DOH: it is an argument that has merit and takes pretty good care of their folks. I wouldn't like it, but I wouldn't grouse about it since it makes sense.
My guess is Mesaba folks expected Colgan to push for relative. It is a reasonable argument and takes care of our pilots. Mesaba folks may not like it, but I bet they understand it.
And then there is the Pinnacle proposal. If Pinnacle had pushed for DOH or something similar, I would have understood. But no, they demand a straight staple of Colgan and darn close to a staple of Mesaba. Sorry, that chaps me. It isn't reasonable or logical (except maybe coming from a two year old).
So, it releasing this information was necessary. I (and many folks I work with) have expected reason from the other two groups. To their credit, Mesaba was reasonable, and I respect them for that.
