I too think the union should lead us thru this but I don't think they should fall prey to management mischaracterization of the issue and give up our rights to first come/first served open time. They should push management to do what they should be doing without our input.
The simple, but expensive, fix is to upgrade the network and take those goofy codes off. That's the only way to get the codes taken off despite what your management sources promise.
The right course of action is not the easiest and the track record when that is the case is not good. Just look at accepted fares and 4a2b.
I still remember when "O" said he was looking into the accepted fare issue and would make it right. That initiative quietly slipped away. Problem still exists. Don't tell me you buy management's rhetoric on 4a2b implementation. I don't know anyone who was happy with that.
Management wants a return to simpler times when we connected with 64k modems and only 300 of us bothered to look at open time. Anything more is considered pilot misbehavior.
