Anyone who thinks AWAC is merging with anyone needs a psych evaluation on their next medical. This industry is starving for pilots. Any and every airline can selectively hire whoever they want off the street without buying up a couple hundred crj pilots.

1) the industry is starving for pilots
2) but any and every airline can “selectively hire” whoever they want off the streets...

Solid logic. Good argument. How’s that working out for us?

It's not working out. clearly. My comment was in regards to a mainline (or any) carrier purchasing us. Apologies for not being so clear.

Were not merging or being bought by anyone. The status quo will continue. Let this rumor die.

This 100%. Status quo is SOP at AWA.

Decisions and actions are slow and deliberate here. Much like the new crew room in ORD that will fit more than 20 people at a time, we've been waiting since October. Actions could have been taken to keep the pilot group closer to 700, but they waited to announce the UA deal after we had lost so many.

We only have value as a good pilot group well versed on 65 marginally operational aircraft no one wants, don't hold your breath.

Its sad to see an old ship run itself aground when all you can do is swab the deck to save it.

Didn't work out too well for us.

We’d be out of business if it went through.

I wonder if United charges AWA for each cancellation.

There's a penalty. Not sure what it is for AWA. Varies by contract... It's debilitating at XJT because it has roots in what was negotiated back in the Continental days where hub/outstation performance was much better, and cx/delays barely ever happened. The UA way puts much more onus on crews to make up for lack of ground support competency to the point it appears setup to cause penalizing delays.
