Any point to this post besides rubbing it in? We’ve known this for months. Condolences to the United pilots who will likely get furloughed. Congrats to the UAX folks who still have a place in line for when things get better.

yes. This is not a neener-neener in any sense of the word. It’s a statement of FACT to let you know what the situation is. If you aspire to something, especially if it is going to take you years and some degree of sacrifice, it is helpful for you to have a realistic idea of what you are aspiring to.

You have an opportunity to learn from what is going on. Since we are ALL paying a huge price for the downturn in the industry, we might as well derive as much useful knowledge as possible from the experience by seeing how effectively various majors handle it. Because anyone that doesn’t think something like this can happen again Sometime in their flying career is either wrong, or pushing 65.

My recommendation is that every regional pilot reads every major forum to see how every major management is handling their pilots under stress. Because stress is a frequent fact of life in this business. But that’s your call.

Thank you for coming to warn us RJ pilots. None of us pay attention at all to industry news. Not like this was the subject of discussion at training events and crewrooms for the past three months.

Are you implying that we should turn down interviews with United in the future because their management is so much more mean than the true philanthropists at every other major? Has nothing to do with the fact that the airline with the largest international exposure is taking the largest hit with 0 international travel. If domestic travel was in the gutter and international was fine all of a sudden JetBlue or Southwest would be making a lot more “stressful” decisions. From what I’ve seen United is attempting to do what they can to mitigate gracefully but they have the largest exposure and need the biggest cuts.

Or so I hear, obviously none of us regional pilots are capable of noticing this sort of thing. If you have some sort of insider info then let’s chat, but coming down to the RJ forums and posting mainline furlough news like we’re not already painfully aware of our career prospects going down the tubes is pretty condescending.

Hey, feel free to NOT read my posts if they offend your sensibilities or block me altogether for that matter. No skin off my @zz at all. You have indeed succinctly Pointed out one of the problems of aspiring to an airline that is diversified into domestic and international flying, a situation which can be favorable in some situations and unfavorable in others, and why you may get that, conversations I’ve had with fellow pilots in crew buses have convinced me that not everyone does. Then there are the aspiring young people almost at their ATP numbers who listen to the siren song of cadet programs, preferred interviews, and flow from recruiting who just might need to take a Good hard look at the real world of what those promises are worth.

But I would differ with you on your career prospects going down the tubes. Except for those already at the top of the seniority list, we are ALL taking a career hit temporarily, but unless as I said you are sneaking up on 65, in three years everything will be pretty much back.

Excardog was/is a RJ pilot till compass shutdown. He is another “expert” on everything. He’s one of the posters I ignore. He’s relatively new to the industry, yet an expert.

That's APC for you. Every year, each airline thread gets a new "expert" that knows more than everyone else and posts until their typing fingers cramp up.

He has also posted more than 4400 times in 2.5 years. That's 6 posts a day. Does nothing else. This is his life, apparently.

What can I say? I’m super junior on reserve in a junior base that I’m commuting to in a state that’s pretty well locked down. Only so much Netflix one can take, particularly when the show being watched is chosen by other guys/gal who don’t necessarily share my tastes In entertainment...

And it’s unlikely to get much better until the company starts hiring again.

on the other hand, I do have a job and am flying - on rare occasion - so there is that. :D

Have a nice day. :)
