I'm not doomsaying, I'm saying "let's fly planes in a way that has a better impact on the environment". Innovation is key and reducing fuel burn has a *central* goal in aviation for decades...

Like are you gonna tell me, the current way things are is perfect, we are at the pinnacle of innovation, no where left to go? C'mon man, we'd still be in horse and buggy with that attitude. Let's just find a way to do what we do but cleaner...seems perfectly reasonable to me.

So are we getting a deposit on Monday the first? It’s been too long since active, is there a payment on the first or are things still in the works?

I just read this a short while ago and thought I should share it.

While others may disagree, from a personal standpoint I do think that if we’re not flying because of furlough, the least the company can do is keep us current and proficient by way of some sim time.

The article pretty much highlights that airlines are more about dollars and cents than a continuing culture of safety by ensuring people who don’t fly don’t forget their skill set, proficiency and operating procedures so that when they come back from furlough the rust isn’t as bad and it doesn’t result in safety issues or an incident which puts our certificates at risk.

Also, yanking our iPads away from us actually did us a disservice.

as the saying goes, if you don’t use it, you lose it.

I would say that taking your iPads away pretty much sums up the money vs safety discussion. How do they expect you to study for your recall event if you don’t have manuals to study from?

I'd be looking for work outside of this industry rather than sitting in your parent's basement posting What Ifs about the regional airline industry on airline pilot central.

Posting how ridiculous it is to worry about what ifs, while including his own doom-and-gloom what ifs. Then making fun of people posting their what ifs.

As wrong as this guy usually is, at least it provides something to laugh at during the layovers.

I'd like to see you laugh in the face of those 50,000 laid off workers during your layovers, Putz. Get out of your Utopia and start acting like an American.
