Default Tilden: Not keeping Airbus long-term

A couple quotes.

Regarding the Airbus planes. "If I were to guess, they won't be in the fleet permanently."

Regarding Boeing. "My dad was a 32-year Boeing guy. This company could not be more in love with Boeing, or loyal to Boeing."

Interesting, I believe the fleet plan is due out Q4? No disrespect to the Airbus, they make an exceptional airplane, but I think this "potential" decision re: future fleet doesn't surprise anyone.

I think we all knew this was coming. Once again Alaska shows its inability to evolve.

I just don't see how this combined company is going to survive long term with no growth and an outdated mentality. The other majors are out there improving their products and growing their fleets. Alaska seems like that have no real plan, only buying itself a few years.

In what way is operating a second aircraft type, simply because it was part of an acquisition, evolving? What magical qualities does an Airbus 320 have that would have improved Alaska's business?

Did you not notice how Southwest dumped the 717s after absorbing Air Tran? Is Southwest also incapable of evolving?

This whole fleet type discussion is just another attempt to divide us. We have no control of what we will fly. Let's stay unified and focused on the issues ahead, JCBA and Sec 25.

It is likely that 5 years after we have a single operating certificate our fleet count and head count will be smaller than on the day we get the single operating certificate. I think they call it harmonization or synergy.
