you didn't know about jury duty until you received the summons after you picked up the trip. You did not know you had jury duty until after you picked up the trip. You did not know about jury duty until you picked up the trip.

At this point don't do it. How many pilots do you think put in for jury leave at any given point? Not a lot. And Alaska has less than 3,000 pilots. Not like DL/AA/UA/SW that have well north of 10k pilots.
Alaska also has the most insecure management team in the business. You better believe they are read APC.

This makes no sense. Everybody has to do jury duty, and any trips touching your day will be dropped and pay protected. You did not bid that line because a 4 day will drop for jury duty, you bid for that line because you need the 3rd off for the super bowl, or because your daughter has a ballet recital... whatever it is, bid the line that works for you and whatever you have over jury duty will be dropped no questions.

That's between you and the state, how you get your assignment and when it is. Once assigned, then and only then does the employer enter into it.

But if they notice what your friend did they might be really PO'ed. Might have to fight the battle to get paid, plus now you're on the radar (if you care).
