The problem with your sarcasm is that QX pilots once offered to fly the MD-80s 80 hours a month for $80K. They called it 80s for 80 for 80.

If you're going to wish, wish big.

Well, if the treasury doesn’t make an about face, it would appear we will no longer be working for the same company!

Not sure the owners of all that money, American taxpayers, want the Treasury Secretary to make an about face. It is only in the little world of airline myopia that we believe giving money away for no reason is a great idea. Grants are not free...And they should have some bite attached to them....If the airline business is not economically viable in a free market let the chips fall where they may....Fairly certain that the majority of wage earning, tax paying Americans are not in favor of giveaways

I would love to see this play out. Let capitalism work. AAL is toast, Alaska will furlough 1,400. I think almost ever airline would file over the summer. Things would clean up over the next 24 months. Another round of consolidation would occur and our wages would start to improve again. Think that would clean up most of the VX daily crying on here for a while too!

The problem with handouts is it sets a precedent for more handouts. 2008 turns into 2020. I"m not saying Airlines should fail....but you've got to punish bad business practices amiright? It makes the whole industry take the money because not taking it could put you at a disadvantage. The other problem is......and nobody seems to care any more....but we are in debt (as a country) as it is....and printing money only kicks the can down the road for our children to deal with. This thing stinks....as they always do.

Maybe another thing nobody is saying......the Bailout basically gets us through the high demand Summer into the fall when demand drops off anyway......which ideally would be the time to furlough. Maybe the irony is that Airline Pilots can't find post furlough jobs in the fall because their will be no jobs left......because they were riding the Bailout money till fall......if it gets that bad. #Truckmasters

I think he means you gonna be furloughed?

The treasury dept’s Mnuchin apparently has the leeway to change some terms. What was supposed to be 25 billion in grants is now being shown as 30% loans and 70% grants. That would mean about 17 billion are grants and the other 8 billion are loans. To cover payroll? Hopefully Mnuchin changes his mind otherwise this is not going to be good news at all.

In a "normal" economic downturn I'd be right there with you, but when you have govt shutting the economy down by edict due to the pandemic, then the govt has interfered with the free market. That coupled with the fact that if everyone is furloughed immediately, we've now structured society/govt that the feds are somehow responsible for everyone's financial wellbeing so in the feds case, paying grants to a company to keep them off the unemployment roles and hope/pray that the situation changes before the money runs out is a fed govt strategy.
Going forward, if you tell companies to structure themselves in a way that they can go into some sort of stasis mode with minimal notice, then there will be a significant changeup to the structure of most corporations.
