But this name calling and such is the standard! At least on APC or the Alyeska site. Same people, same fighting about who is right and wrong. Unity will never truly exist at this company, at least in the 15 years I have left. I just set the brake and go home. The websites are great for a few laughs and very very rarely some helpful info. The company should stick to moving people instead of backing special interests and promoting clothing. Look around while at work and it’s obvious we have a VERY diverse work group. I am very proud of that! But watch some one will twist my post around as being racist and biased!LMAO!

Oh no! I honestly did not want to increase the level of discourse! Honest!

I didn't think a post with a link that the company originally posted on its official website about depoliticing a topic was going to ruffle feathers. I took the petitions name at face value. My ignorance may just be bliss. And if my post caused you consternation, I'm very sorry.

I for one feel fortunate for our group in light of today's situation with regards to our jobs. We all are very fortunate.

I read through enough pages of the other topic to learn that there are some very strong opinions on both sides of the argument. It seems like the arguments there are more a contest than a means to an end.

I like to learn about other people's opinion on a topic so I can grow and be more thoughtful of other people's point(s) of view.

Name calling and vitriol seem to me to be counterproductive.

At the end of the day we all need to work together to protect one another. There are so many more bumps in the road ahead, many of which we don't even know about yet! Unity can be our best shock absorber.

This divisiveness is very sad. Hopefully we can begin to learn from one another instead of fight one another.

Still, I do wish for anyone reading this, a very pleasant day.

Oh No! You didn't think starting a whole new thread because your little petition link didn't get any attention in the other thread was going to continue to contribute to more hate filled vitriol? My goodness, who would have thought? But it's ok bud, you still have a friend in me. Just post the petition in the Alyeska forum site so I can sign it!
If you're reading this, please a very pleasant day.

Let me take a wild stab at this... It's all white people that have signed that letter. Oh, the irony certainly isn't lost on me...

I hope you have found this post to be non-political. In my opinion, our industry has some significant new threats at our doorstep. Divisiveness is not the answer (no matter how correct you think you might be).

Politicizing issues makes unity much more difficult.

Best wishes to you for a pleasant day :)

not at Alaska, so don’t care one bit, but if you for a second think that petition was non political you should have your medical revoked. Regardless if you agree with BLM, it is political.

Yeah, the irony.

It is ironic that those who scream snowflake at people who speak up against racism or injustice are they themselves the one who live in fear of minorities and immigrants. Fear that they’ll take their jobs, move into their neighborhoods, protest in their towns. They’re always the ones who say, “I’m not racist, BUT...”

It is ironic that those same scared people who decry “cancel culture”, because the Dixie chicks change their name or Washington dropped the derogatory “redskin” moniker, are the ones trying to put Goodyear out of business, stopped shopping at Dick’s sporting goods, smashed their yeti coolers, refused to buy Taylor Swift CD’s, burned their Nike’s, boycotted the NFL and drummed out a player for raising the issue at hand. Why, even last night during the RNC, they pulled a speech from a Q supporter. (Which I agree they were right to do but daaaaaamn, the irony).

It is ironic that the same weak minded folks call anyone using their first amendment rights to protest any injustice, a fascist. All while supporting forcible suppression of that opposition and strong regimentation of society. Which if you haven’t guessed, is the very definition of fascism.

It’s quite ironic that those same scared, weak minded people championing the use of fascist force, hold up the constitution and proclaim it to be a perfect document which disproves racism while apparently not realizing it has been amended 27 times. Not grasping the fact that the purpose of the United States is to constantly strive to be a, “more perfect Union”, not rest on our laurels from 1789 and in order to do so, must accept change.

Most ironic of all, the ones promoting a petition to “depoliticize” AS, are using right leaning talking points filled with straw man arguments and tag lines championed by threatening conspiracy theorists with ties to the extreme right.

So in short, I agree, “oh, the irony”.
