WHEW!!!! Dodged a bullet.

American Widebodies in new domestic routes. Thank goodness we really only market ourselves to PNW and a smattering of Cali flyers. I know that if I lived in Dallas, and wanted to fly to ANC, I’d DEFINITELY prefer to transition SEA or LAX to get there: You had me at “cheese tray”.

It’s the foil wrapped mint.... and the chance to reserve a tray for each leg!

Ok, but to be fair the cheese tray IS good. Too bad AS only puts like 5 of them on for 160 pax.

It's even better when they remember to refrigerate them

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the only year this happens, my guess is it’s a way to keep the wide bodies flying and crews current while the international side is essentially shut down. Once we turn the corner on Covid they’ll most likely go back to the NEO on DFW-ANC. The rest of the widebodies coming into SEA are probably going to be a feeder/positioning for crews and aircraft for when AA starts flying to India and London out of there.

If only Alaska had a couple of those NEO‘s. But then again which airplane would serve SEA-PDX?

Back in the 80s and 90s, US airlines routinely flew domestic wide bodies on shorter routes, like 747/DC10/777 between Chicago and Miami or L1011/767 between ATL and BOS. Delta flew 767s DTW-ATL right up to 9/11, and 767/777 ATL to almost every city in Florida through the 2000s. I guess what's old is new again. "The Points Guy" may be too young to remember this.

Yeah when I was a kid I could usually get a middle row in the back to myself to lay down and sleep. Oil was $5/bbl.

AA has been flying DFW-ANC before Alaska ever flew SEA-DFW.

If you merge with AA you will get more than your fair share of cheese.
