If you’re going to be gone from your home, your place of comfort, why not get compensated to the maximum.

Why would anyone want to work at a place that pays the lowest.
DL, UAL, AA, UPS, FedEx, SWA, Jet Blue.
They’re all hiring & pay better.

Possibly because everywhere you just mentioned would require commuting? IE, more time away from home.

...and Alaskan doesn't have any commuters?

The commuting rules and trip construction at the other carriers make it worth while. UA is trying to get pos space commuting and FedEx you can buy a ticket to work on the companies dime. Do the research.

The majority are ex-VX who had significantly better trip trip construction and work rules that made commuting easier pre-merger. Alaska is not a commuter friendly airline.

I know, I was being ironical... I'm ex VX and know full well. My point was AK peeps STILL think in terms of Seatle being center of the universe. "Why would anybody from here go to American? You'd have to commute!" Ummmm... still a lot of commuters.

Ok, I see. My sarcasm radar is deferred. We’re in agreement.

Unless they make commuting built into your schedule(home based), nothing will ever make commuting worth while.

Wrong.

Nothing will ever make commuting as good as living in base.

As to whether commuting is worthwhile is circumstantial and in the eye of the beholder. Commuter benefits and accommodations can make it more worthwhile.

Not true….The ex VX commuters do however stand up and make their voices heard…Something that our original Alaska commuters have never dared to do
