I think that is simply bad info…the 2023-02 position bid has at least 30 spots for new hired to fill on the 320 in LAX. I think it’s possible to get now, but will certainly fade as time goes on.

What are the class sizes like these days?

I have seen several screen shots of FOs at Frontier and Spirit showing approved drop/trade/swap requests in Flica to adjust their respective schedules. Wondering if this could be similar at Alaska in the coming months?

IMO this is an unknown. Our new contract requires improved staffing. It is yet to be seen if the airline will be able to staff this new model. Another issue is how the company will interpret the language. Personally, I'm hoping for the best and planning for the worst.

Latest internal training guidance for instructors has Airbus training for new hires throughout 2023. A seat and domicile bid is closing tomorrow that will produce significant Airbus FO vacancies that will be filled by new hires. This in addition to at least 45 currently unfilled Airbus FO vacancies. Aircraft assignment is seniority based in class. If you are junior you are going to the aircraft and base that you can hold…You will also be reduced off the Airbus if that is where you end up and go through another aircraft training cycle while on probation. During all of 2023 we will have reduction and displacement bids occurring. Once we are single-fleet we will stagnate for a period and on the heels of that PBS implementation will cause further stagnation. Last, the recruiters, wether they are HR or pilots are almost always uninformed or informed along a talking point that has little to do with reality…..

How is the seniority in each class determined?

Used to be by age….

I know a guy who was a A320 captain at AS who resigned to take a position at UA. How common is this?
