Unlikely, the next bid will probably be further reducing or even completely closing the LAX Bus base.

The next bid will not be closing the LAX Airbus base.

Well, that’s almost as many answers as there are to that question….

Historical trend is that the bus will keep dragging out, and they will keep putting new hires on it.

But there are also rumors that the bus (321) will gone early this summer.

So nobody knows, probably not even the top boyz.

Structurally, Alaska is a one-base airline. The process is driven by maintenance first. Maximum number of tails overnight in SEA. Planning then tries to staff the maximum number of those from SEA. We have a small number of originators in each of the “outposts” as they are called in network planning. They try to staff only those with locals. They attempt to staff the rest of the “outpost” flying from SEA. What can’t be staffed by SEA trickles down to the three “lower 48” outposts and some trickles up to Alaskan Airways in ANC. We are still a small west coast mega-regional. In our leadership, in our hiring, in our structure, in our flying and in our future planning.
What any prospective pilot can be sure of: You will be based on the west coast and you will fly clapped-out 737 maxes for your entire career.

Process after submitting app

How long does it take for someone to reach out after submitting an application?

After they reach out, what typically occurs after? (Phone interview or in person?)

I submitted on 12/16, haven’t heard back.
