Multi Day Trips

Did anyone notice the ‘experimental’ multi day pairings on the bid packets? What a completely tone deaf move, if they want to lose 99% of our pilots to everywhere else then this is how you do it. Why bother staying at this dumpster fire when you can go be treated as a professional, be compensated as such, and have more time at home. This is the end of the company if this is their staffing solution going forward.

Yeah I’m convinced at this point that not only do they not care about attrition, but that they might be encouraging it.

I can’t think of any other reasoning other than this. I don’t want to give them too much credit, but they have to know multi day trips are the final straw for people thinking about leaving. They would lose their one and only reason that people stay and put up with their BS.

Guys wanted growth in current bases, rather than the mid continent base structure. Overnights allow that to happen. Either accept seniority stagnation will occur with day trips or accept that overnights are what will grow your base.

They aren't going to have a choice. Look at the staffing numbers for April with all the HDMWDs. Look at the net loss of pilots in February. Pretty soon they aren't going to be able to staff the crappy midwest bases and will operate them with turns from the large bases and overnights. I also think the Mexico flying (the little bit we will actually do) is going to require 2 day trips to make it work. This isn't new they have been talking about "a small percentage of overnights" for at least a year. The handful of commuters will probably eat them up.

That's fine, I think most pilots understand that. But that doesn't mean the pairings need to be absolute garbage...

Serious question. What was the expectation? We currently fly a ton of pairings worth less than 4 hrs a day as it is. What pool of trips are the ultra efficient 8 hr trips going to come from?

By building pairings in 3 leg days instead of 2 leg days. That was the expectation.

Then dont put multiday trips in all the small bases!

I don't have a problem with the multi day trips. I may even bid for a few for the adventure. But now G4 is like any other airline and needs to pay like every other airline. There should never have been a contract that didn't foresee this happening. Now we will receive the bad end of the stick until a new contract appears in 2024/2025
