QOL issues, and there are many, are what got the IBT voted in at G4.
It looks like some are happy w/QOL here but most see room for a lot of improvement.

Quote: I know this is a bit off topic, but this seems like the best place to put AAY questions at the moment.

So I'm curious...how's the schedule at AAY for someone who lives in base? How much flexibility do you have in your scheduling (i.e. how hard is it to drop trips on days you don't want to/can't fly and pick up trips on your days off)? How long does one generally stay on reserve? How is the schedule for a typical reserve guy (again how easy or hard is it to drop/pick up reserve days)?

I know these are a lot of questions, but I'm trying to get a good feel for what the QOL is like in regards to the typical pilot's schedule.

Thanks!

As far as schedules go. If you’re senior life is good. If you’re junior and/or stuck in a base not of you’re choosing. You live to work.

Some of why IBT be here.

I agree; thanks for seeing my logic here. Also thanks everyone for all the answers!

One more thing: For the FL bases, how long does someone generally stay on reserve? I'd prefer a FL base before a west coast base, and it seems (based on what everyone is saying) likely that would happen.

I've been stuck in FL since March (I say stuck as I'm one of those trying hard to get out west). Been on RSV 3 months and held a line 3 months. We lost 2 from the bottom of the SFB list, so it looks like RSV for the foreseeable future until they hire...which I pray creates some movement (I've heard you can normally get where you want in about 6 months, but it hasn't worked out that way). Historically I'm not sure how long it'd take to get off RSV in FL. SFB and PIE have RSV lines, FLL and PGD I'm pretty sure don't. One of the bad things about SFB RSV is you're covering all 4 FL bases. Makes figuring out what's going on damn near impossible most of the time. If you plan to live there, probably not too terribly horrible...commuting cross country for it blows.
