United Stole Another

Andrew Nocella has informed me that he is resigning from his position of Senior Vice President – Network Planning, Alliances & Sales and has accepted a leadership role at United.
So now they have two people with knowledge of our business plan and model.

Good thing we still have Doug, don't know what we would do with out his great skills in cost cutting and making things as cheap as possible.

If you can't keep your senior management its a very bad sign. I predict AA wants another Chap 11 in the next 5 yrs for solely a scope grab. Jan performance numbers show RJ growth up 7.3% Year over Year. This is a trend that is not going away.

Name User 02-15-2017 02:21 PM

I don't know the dynamics but him and Kirby may have been BFFs. He was former US, wasn't he?

I simply cannot believe they don't have any non-compete clauses. It just blows my mind. Any legitimate corp has this.

Call me nuts but I honestly believe that is why they aren't worried about paying off their debt, and why they continue to take on more to buy back stock. Debt is easy to cancel, if you pay it off that money is gone forever...

Idk if that's their reasoning. If it is we are all totally F'ed. I firmly believe they do whatever it takes to make the stock price increase. The top 5 execs have hundreds of millions in stock alone. Their number one job is to make shareholders happy.

They could care less about our strategy to deal with NAI, ULCCs, the ME3, or whatever the next threat is in 5,10, or 30 years.

jcountry 02-15-2017 03:15 PM

I think the board is noticing all these things. We may see more changes soon.

Shindo 02-15-2017 05:54 PM

Parker is the problem.
He's running it like crappy old america west.

Buzzlightyear 02-15-2017 06:04 PM

All the major corps are playing the same game. Money is cheap right now therefore issue debt at staggering and alarming rates no matter the quality of the debt. The second leg of this stool is stock buybacks to goose earnings. Using profits to buyback its own stock to reduce the number of outstanding shares artificially increases quarterly earnings. It's where we are in the business cycle.

When a recession comes AA and all the other corps not just airlines will begin the belt tightening and the debt issuance and stock buybacks wont be in favor by wall st and it's analysts anymore.

They won't need that, the last guy I flew with was talking about giving up 5 more seats in the rjs to 'get something' in the next contract. "You gotta give something up to get something" he said.

God what an idiot. This is why the next contract will pass with only pay raises.

I want to bid off the 190 just so I can debate some of these old dudes. Mainly R57[emoji23]

Wanna guess how much vacation he floated? Or how often he's on the makeup list?

I just want to be present the first time these guys get IMAX'd.

What have you seen me advocating giving up?

If you're going to debate me then you needed to sharpen your logic and reasoning skills.

I think you'll be at DL before your freeze is up, right?

Hey, since Kirby got here he cancelled 65 aircraft orders(so far, standing by for more) and is parking the 747s early; plus, this year, we will hit the max 70/76 seat RJs that scope allows.

Please, no more defections!:D

Isn't that what the AA guys say to do? Fly your butt off so you can get IMAX'd and basically have a free month off? Is that looked down upon?

They'll be *****ing that they can't live off less than $25,000 a month. When they get IMAX'd, they're 100-hour month is over for a while. They, most likely, have no idea it's coming.

I'll be looking forward to that "debate" if you are coming to CLT.

See you in the cockpit "young dude"!

Are you saying you would trade scope for better pay?

Would that mean more planes at mainline or would it just mean less, but bigger planes at regionals?

Not so fast. Flew with a sr capt recently. Had a 190 jump seater. He explained he was probably going to stay on the 190 till they went away. I chimed in and said that's when Parker comes with the crying story that he needs scope relief for a 110 seat aircraft at the regionals, but he will give us a pay raise.

Capts said. I'm all for it....can't wait for that offer to come up.

If you could donate just one of your testicles for higher pay, would you?

Come on! You still got another one!

Just one!

I'm not sure why you would respond to THAT question in that manner.
I guess it's because you think we should never give up anything. In a way you are correct, we are in a place that we should never give anything of value. But those are hulls are here. We will never get them on the mainline. If we could TRADE the 5 extra seats on hose hulls in exchange for parking most of the 50 seat fleet and greatly expanding the 100 seat fleet on the mainline, wouldn't that be a much better deal over all? Isn't that what the Holt Grail, Delta, did?

Or do we want that flying? I mean, they have a hard time filling the E190 Captain seat, and it's not just pay. Most guys I fly with have a regional background and say they don't want anything to do with it. Heck, it's so junior that even the youngin' Mainline can hold it!

Take a minute to really read and think about what I'm about to write. I'd never tell the company "NO!" I'd say "Sure, we'll look at it." Then I'd study study it and if it didn't make sense I'd say "We just can't do it", or make the cost so high they'd walk away. I think when we draw lines in the sand with this management team we get played. It's the old Br'er Rabbit routine. They get us so wrapped around the axle about things they don't care about that we don't pay attention as they lift our wallet.

So the younger guys constantly harp on old farts, whine about the legacy they're leaving you, completely forget what they've gone through here to keep this place alive, for you to have a place to come to, and you're surprised that they say FU?

Sorry, but this isn't about just one airline. This is pattern bargaining and we finally got all the majors' unions to draw the line at the same place, 76 seats. We need to hold that line. Just say, NO!!!

Those jobs are coming back to the mainline anyway. Just let it happen.

Like Delta did with the CRJ? US scope didn't allow them at one time.

You're on a roll today!! I love it!!

Delta didn't allow bigger RJs. They allowed more 76 seaters while reducing the overall number of RJs. That's a whole lots different than allowing bigger airplanes.

I don't buy the whole "I don't want to fly the 190/ whatever small narrowbody" argument. It goes junior here bc we only have 20 of them so the flying is kind of lames, it's only based in PHL and pay sucks. Throw some in CLT or DFW and have them pay like the 717 pays at Delta ($13/hr more than 12 yr 77/74 FO) and it would go senior quick. It is NOT bc people don't want to fly Regional style schedules.

Now, isn't it time for your nap gramps?!?! 🤣
