New Hire to LAX
I'm sure this has been covered somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. I am scheduled to flow in September. I assume I'll be one of the most junior in my class. LAX would be the best base for my family, but I'd still be commuting. What equipment is best to hold LAX the soonest? I'm not banking on being senior enough to get it on my initial drop. Also, on the most junior equipment how long is it taking guys to hold LCR or a hard line?

Brick,
LAX has gone to new hires, FYI. The F/O I was paired with during training last month was an off-the-street (Jan) new hire who got LAX 737 right out of the drop. And he could have held long call in March.
If u cannot get it in new hire training, you'll get it on the next bid or three. LAX 737 and 320 are just about the most junior aircraft right now, along with MIA and LGA. DCA is also going very junior. Once u get LAX u should hold long call pretty quick. Once they transition to PBS on May 1, lines will start also going very junior - PBS causes very junior pilots to hold lines right away.
Welcome aboard.

LAX 320 and 737 are both very junior. Hard to tell which will be faster to hold a line. The 320 is growing now, but that's mainly absorbing the flying from PHX. That should be evened out before you flow.
If you have a choice, take this into account...the 320 in LAX is mainly 2 day trips, not necessarily commutable on both ends. Some 3 day trips, few 4 day trips. The 737 is mainly 3 day trips, then 4 day trips. The 737 also has pairings out of ONT, SNA, and SAN. The 320 goes to Hawaii, 737 does not.
I commute from northern CA and I decided the 737 pairings were that much better for me that I bid the 737, leaving the A320.

Those junior PBS lines on the bus are going to be very ugly.

Due to less than 100% participation rates, "parallel" PBS bidding results are not indicative of future "live" PBS results. It's one of the reasons I'm waiting to put my DFW or LAX bid in. I can't really tell how I'd sit there yet.

Exactly. Parallel bidding is kind of pointless everyone doesn't participate.

Also, wait a few months to really see what is what. First month or two favored those who practiced a bit.

LA had quite a growth spurt over the last two years. LA, LGA and MIA are all similarly junior at the very bottom. A little better for me on 73 because all the PHX people want to stay airbus.
My guess is it will stay junior at the bottom in the next couple years.
In general the top of LA seems a bit more senior than East coast.
