It covers the one and two year LOS marks. It doesn't cover newhire, 3 month, six month, etc. You can see that the bases that are getting new hires also have the earliest opportunity to be a line holder. Right now the senior bases are DFW and LAX for w/b's. MIA, LGA, PHL are the most junior. LAX is also fairly junior for CA. A new hires upgrade is about 7-8 yrs from now. We have a known 5,800 retirements in the next 7.5 yrs. Only 6,400 Captains. There will be opportunities all over the place. Trying to predict, with a high degree of certainty, how those retiree slots will be filled is almost impossible. But if history holds true DFW and LAX will remain more senior while LGA/PHL/MIA stay more junior. |
STL and BOS could be the next to go should there be consolidation
in the ranks. PHX might be further out but I wouldn't count that out either. Three megabases along with five equipment specific bases will be the most likely outcome in the next few years IMO. |

Thanks! For 737 and Airbus 319/320/321, where could I get as a base as a new hire?
|
LGA or LAX certainly look like the dumping ground for newhires. MIA to a lessor extent
