Default B757/767 question

Hi, I have a question. In the past, I know for a fact that the B757/767 was a common type rating and pilots flew both airplanes at all the legacy carriers. I heard from a friend at American that it's no longer the case. I was thinking he was mistaken but can anyone confirm if you fly both or just one or the other now? Thanks and fly safe!

Perhaps they are referring to the non US/AA mixing due to screen differences for a while??

While not AA, I think the EAL guys had 757 types only.

Did Eastern have 76's? I remember they had A300's, but don't recall 76's. Maybe I'm mistaken.

He's right. LAA can fly their 75/76s while LUS can only fly their 75s. It has to do with the screens/FMS setup. LAA and LUS are getting qualed on the other types now and I think it will be a combined bid status by Oct 1.

It's still a common type rating and pilots can fly both. Guys are running into issues with the Classic Flight Deck (CFD) and Advanced Flight Deck (AFD). The CFD is the standard configuration EFIS/steam gauge arrangement. It's only left on a few Basic LAA 757s and all of the LUS 757s. Some of the newer 757s and all of the 767s have the AFD or the flat-panel mods. The FAA is saying pilots have to have flights in each type during a 90-day period and that's where the issues are.

As stated previously, LUS pilots were not trained on the flat-panel airplanes, but that conversion is nearly complete. When that happens, the 76T bid status, relegated to former LUS pilots, will go away.

Thanks a lot guys, clarification is much appreciated.

As far as Eastern Airlines, I don't think they had the 767, did have many 757's though. They also had L-1011's, A300 and 727 aircraft. Maybe DC-9s but can't remember those clearly.

Any idea what exactly is the fleet migration plan, final bases, and size of the fleet at each base when it's all finalized?
