Too late to bid the S80?

I am thinking about bidding the S80 as I have always wanted to fly it. Can we still bid this mighty airplane or is it too late?

How much longer will it be around?

Thanks!

As long as you put it above DC10, 707, and F100 in your 3*, you should be good.

Fleet is gone in Sept 19 I believe.

Yes. Friend of mine at AA said the last drop for the S80 was an Aug or Sep class.

The last page of the vacancy announcement should be helpful

Did EMBFlyer get a new screen name?

IIRC the last bid that had someone other than a new hire awarded it was March 2018.

And the last NH S80 was in mid May

Enter your bid. Let the company decide.

The nice part can be the displacement when it disappears. No lock-in with displacements.

Pilotman520 12-21-2018 03:38 PM

No more qualification training on the 80. 😥

I can see why...makes sense. Last trip is when, September? Watch for huge displacements in next vacancy bid.

Just out of curiousity, are there any S80 CA in the top 200? A pilot in my flight department brother was a 25 year guy on it before bidding in one swoop to 777 CA.

Yes.

Number 1 CA is low 100’s, number 2 is in the 500’s DFW.

Funny stuff, how those senior guys stay with it! I was at EAL, BOS had several two-digit numbers flying the -9 and the 727. Dennis’ brother went from S80 to B777 and could hold a line on the T7

Too bad they don’t have TCAS in the AA sims. Not sure if it can be retrofitted. It was a big issue when we looked at using them.

From the Book of Pilot Wisdom: “Verily, it be never too late that ye bid the MadDog, but always too early.” :D

There are more than a few that did this.

I’m sure AA is conducting massive recurrent training before the 12 March 2019 deadline, when UPRT is required to commence. Makes sense for the proposed September retirement month of the MD.

Who knows... maybe a soon to be retired MD sim with spares can be yours on EBay.

I believe all 4 are spoken for.
