Default Beards

Does AA allow Beards, for at least guys with medical skin conditions? I have a short 3/8 inch, well groomed beard. I am currently in the military and have had it for the last 10 years, since I was diagnosed. I know there was a study done in Canada that busted the myth of not being able to obtain a proper seal on aviation O2 masks. I get fitted every other year for masks in the military, both positive pressure and Chemical / Biological. Its one of those 15 minute seal tests, where you have to read out of a book while moving your head in multiple uncomfortable positions. The machine says I get a good seal every time.

I know other countries airlines allow beards, and I know Hawaiian allows them, but was unsure about AA, or any others.

Any info would be appreciated (except your personal opinion on why you don't like beards)

We had a guy at Envoy who was in training who had a beard. He had a letter from his DR and the manufacturer of the O2 mask on the embraer saying that beards don't interfere with the seal of the oxygen mask.....

He didn't make it through training though. I am not sure if the same can be done at AA.

My personal belief is I wish the US would change this long standing issue with no beards. I honestly don't buy "it interferes with the seal" crap, I believe it is just "our fathers traditions" that came from the military and it is how it always has been and always shall be b.s.

In time I hope it changes as I see the stigma with tattoos changing over time.

They are allowed but only if accompanied by a man bun. AA doesn’t allow half ass hipsters.
