Currently we have 5,424 out on leave in May. The 5,155 is the June number.

So how does it work with the vacancy? Pilot on 6 month leave will bid for Sept but will not be back on property until Nov.

They said they won’t be able to train everybody before September, and they can also call you back with 30 days notice, not sure about how they will handle everybody.

There will be lots of withholds. It would make sense to train the widebody to widebody displacements that are not on an LOA first. They will be the most expensive to have sitting idle with AT pay protection. Then the widebody to narrowbody displacements and so forth. OF COURSE logic is not common with the manpower people

I don’t understand why anyone on the 190 or the 75\76 would be taking a leave? Why not sit at home while you’re paid guarantee? I don’t see them immediately going to long term training either.

For the guys that took LOAs starting APR or MAY, no one knew what the plan was or early retirement of fleets, and the AUG bid wasn’t canceled. No guarantees on no training now or then, especially for withheld 190 guys. However, given the size of the displacement bid, Training center being closed for weeks, I’m sure some guys regret taking it. If you have big plans for the summer, hell yeah it’s worth the pay cut for guaranteed time off

For those of us that are commuters, it was a fairly easy choice.
The plan with the 75s was initially to keep them and then operate them as demand picked up. Getting from point A to base could be daunting depending on where you live. Not to mention the increase in out of pocket cost for more hotels. So to be able to sit home, get PAID and have zero Fs given about work was an easy choice. If I had known they were going to park the entire fleet and offer more LoA, I might have waited a month.
